To ensure that all our matching side panels are of the highest quality, our skilled craftsmen hand make each one to your bespoke measurements. In fact, Wortley Brothers are the only UK based wooden gate manufacturer to offer gate sizes in millimetres.

At nearly three inches thick, ourmatching side panels are constructed using heavy duty planed 100 x 70 mm framework, 16 mm planed tongue and groove boards and, employing time honoured carpentry skills, mortise and tenon joints are created which are then glued and dowelled to fortify them for maximum strength.

In order to keep twisting and movement of your matching sidfe panels to an absolute minimum, we use a premium grade fully engineered defect free Scandinavian Redwood timber.

We only use the very best premium grade Scandinavian Redwood timber, making the end product far superior than our competitors this in turn minimises the timber from moving, swelling, shrinking and warping and ensures that your wooden gates are of the highest quality and durability. By contrast to standard timber, which most other wooden gate companies use, which is cut directly from the tree in length form and still contains all the pre-existing knots, moisture and imperfections. Our Premium Scandanavian Redwood costs us 35% more than standard timber - a cost which we carry ourselves and do not reflect back in our prices to you. African Iroko Hardwood is sourced from the west coast of tropical Africa and comparing well with teak is very strong and durable which is also reported to be naturally resistant to decay and rot even before any treatment is applied making this beautiful premium grade hardwood last for years and years.
