The MEDIUM Premium Gate Posts Are One Of Our Heavy Duty Wooden Gate Posts Suitable For Our Small Sized Wooden Gates or larger gates when bolted to a wall. They also Feature A Four-Way Peaked Top For Water Dispersion. All Posts are Supplied In lengths Of 2400mm. All The Preparation Is Done For You. We use Premium Grade Scandinavian Redwood, Which Are Fully Planed & Sanded To A Smooth Finish So They Completly Match Your Gates.

What is the optimal size for a gate?

The best height and width for a wooden gate depends on its intended use.

Standard single pedestrian and garden gates should be around 900mm wide to allow for clear access. This includes measurements to allow for expansion gaps and posts. The maximum width for a single gate we can manufacture at Wortley Brothers is 3000mm. Common heights range from three to six feet.

Can gates open both ways?

Our single gates are designed to open either inwards or outwards, and the placement of the hinge during installation will decide how the gate will open. For example, from the front view, the hinge will either be flush against the front of the post and gate to open outwards, or flush against the back of the post and gate to open inwards.

If you are planning for your gates to open outwards, you will need to include a hinge packer to your order.
